I used to run with that group a few years ago, before I moved to Houston. Planned on checking it out again, but haven't gotten the cars ready yet. Maybe next month. I'll keep an eye out for you guys.

Next Month is an active one for the Martin Club. We normally have one of our special Mini-Prix events in October, but due to site availability it had to be scheduled at the end of September. Which means we have our regular September event, will be Sunday, September 10 at our "home," The Lake County Tech Center. And the MSCC Fall Mini-Prix will be held on Saturday, September 30 at the Gainsville Raceway Test Track. I can post more info on that in the coming weeks. It will most likely be pre-registration only and there is a good chance there will be a cap in place for this event.

Oh, sweetness - love the Mini-Prix events! Will definitely have to bring the 951 out for that one. How long have you been running with the club, kabel? Last event I competed in was July 2004. We've probably bumped into each other...

It's very possible our paths have crossed. I have been a MSCC member since March I think, of 2004.

Membership at this point in the year may not yield many benefits. Especially if you are interested in the points battle. You do not have to be a member to attend the Mini-Prix. When the pre-registration goes online, it is open to anyone.

Martin Sports Car Club Membership requires you to attend at least three events before you're eligible for membership and you must have a current member sponsor you (in this case me ).

All new members are inducted during our monthly meetings at Buttermilks in Maitland so you have to attend a meeting to join.

Additionally once you are a member you're expected to attend meetings at least semi-regularly. In addition you must host a event (ideally with your sponsor) within your first six months. Once a year after that.

These "regulations" are in place to encourage active membershp, we discourage membership for the sake of the discounted entry fee.

Called the Mini-Prix because unlike a normal autocross we use a small road course and almost no cones.

We are once again using the Gainesville Raceway 1.6 mile road course facility.

Another fun element is that top speed there is typically higher, I get to use third gear in my Miata on the back stretch, and the higher horse-power cars get a chance to actually use some of that power, albeit briefly.
