Here's what you have to do in Wisconsin.
First you have to get a Salvage title in your name.
Take pictures of all 4 sides of the vehicle.
Fill out a form documenting every major piece you replace on the car, including the VIN of the car you get the part from, and a receipt for the part.
Have the car inspected when you're finished, usually by a county deputy or a state patrol officer who knows what to look for.
Apply for a "rebuilt salvage" title.
Drive it 'til it's dead.
Or just find the shady car dealer in your town, you know, the guy with cars priced way too cheap and the brother who owns a body shop. He'll know what you have to do.
