Chip(s) location(s)???
I just bought 1989 944 turbo and was told it had autohority chips. I was told other things that were incorrect. I am learning more and would like to verify the chips. Where do I find them and are there different levels (HP, boost...) of chips? How to tell which ones I have?
Thanks

Will,
Chips are located in the passenger side footwell. Pull the carpet back (velcro'd) and you should see a piece of wood, un bolt that. Next you will see a black H braket, unscrew that sucker. You will see the DME and KLR, Unbolt them, now i can't remember exactly how to take the DME/KLR apart, but its pretty simple. Once you get them apart look at the chips, they'll have a sticker on them. If its silver with a bunch of #'s, they're stock. If they have a printed label with Autothroity etc printed on them, they are aftermarket.
Another easier way to tell is to look under the hood. Look for a manual boost controller, it will be connected to the upper IC pipe that goes to the turbo. If you don't see one, take out the banjo bolt. Looking inside of it, if you see its jetted (smaller than the bolt itself) it is aftermarket. (Autothority used a jetted banjo bolt set for 15psi.)
Most aftermarket chips are set to 15psi, there are a few that are set to 17-18psi.
Hope this helps! (btw, i would get the info from Jim, pics make it 10x easier. Look in my sig, thats the HP/TQ i made)
