Did yous try jiggling the **** out of them. Tach not bouncing can also be a DME relay or DME

We had something funky like this happen on the yellow car. It just randomly didnt start for some weird *** reason, even though it had been running litearally 2 minutes prior. Dr Boost ended up holding the contacts on the DME relay and it started up!

Unplug and replug the connections. Worked on my car.

I ordered new ones after that. It's worth the extra measure of reliability. Add new gas lines to the mix, and maybe, just maybe, I can convince my parents to let me drive it to the fest next year (if there is one).

I recently repaired my DME, Click on this thread.

My issue was that the car would randomly and suddenly die and then would not re-start. It would turn over fine, just wouldn't fire. I think the tach needle would move when I cranked it, although I don't recall for sure.

Anyway, hope that gets you going again.

Dudley had a problem with his car that ended up being the DME. The tach DID move when it was being cranked. Nice lil curveball thrown in there.

okay, I followed the clarks garage directions and checked the resistance on the two sensors, everythign seemed fine, but the part that i don't understand is I am not getting any reading on the outside two pins on either sensor, can't explain that.... anyone?

Nevermind, my readings are within spec on the speed and ref sensors. Thank goodness i am not studying electrical engineering....

so could a bad DME cause the tach not to bounce when cranking the car?

Not sure but it's the next thing to check. Before you crack the DME case open just try bangning on it some and then try and start. If you get it to start then you've found your culprit. Resoldering those two pins is really no big deal, the hard part was isolating them for me. Hopefully my pics on that thread will point you in the right direction.

May the force be with you.

DME did not work.
Is there anything besides the speed sensor that can cause the tach not to bounce when cranking the car over?
