Default Can I Install My New Springs Now?

I just got a set of Weltmeister 250# springs.

I can't drop $ 300 on the 28mm torsion bars right now, so I have to wait for that.

Can I install the springs now? Or is it better I wait until I get the torsion bars...whevever that is.

I already know about the ball joint geometry correction...etc. etc. Please don't get into that, I'm already on it.

Certainly. As long as you keep in mind that you will have a lot of understeer when cornering at moderate to fast speed. You won't notice it when driving slow on the street, but you will notice it if you are driving spiritedly...........especially during an autocross.

I have weltmeister 250's in the front right now, and the 28mm torsion bars sitting on my workbench still....go figure. It is fine around town, but wouldn't go too crazy until the torsion bars are in.

Car will be nice on street at moderate speed, but push like a stuffed pig in an autocross setting.

You could also try to regain some of the balance by upping the rear sway bar or softening/removing the front sway bar.

I run sans front sway bar with welt 250lb springs and 18mm rear sway bar. Stock T-bars and there's no understeer with the same tires all around.

Edit-- this is in my '87 n/a

Right now I'm running 25.5mm fronts and 18mm rears. My car oversteers more than understeers right now. Could be because of the thicker rear sway bar.

I'm wondering if putting on the heavier front springs would only make it understeer a bit more, rather than understeer severely?

Well you can put those 250's in and find out.

Alot of variables impact balance. Normally a change like this creates understeer.
