Default 1989 turbo DME KLR question

Hi guys,

I bought an 89 944 turbo. I checked the DME and discovered it has a 24 pin chip in it (weltmeister) I guess this means some previous owner swapped out the original computer since I think the original is 28 pin . Assuming it has the 1989 engine (anyone know how to check?) will using the wrong computer cause problems. Thanks
