Any reason why punching a hole in an oil filter shouldn't work?

Are you trying to say longer ones squirt less?
You can't get something in far enought to damage the mount for the oil filter without a 2 ft long screwdriver and a sledgehammer so that's not a problem. If spilling oil is such a big problem, Porsche wouldn't make a car that is so prone to oil leaks from balance shaft seals, oil pan, cam seals, oil cooler housing, oil pressure sender, or power steering resevoir where the oil filter would leak down from (a little sarcasm goes a long ways).

Yes,
I just looked on PET and the 928 filter is installed the right way up i.e. opposite of a 944.
So really I shouldnt use a 928 filter as it has no check valve, which is a bit annoying to say the least as I bought a filter off promax, and they have it listed under the 944 turbo section.
They also state its "Suitable for all Porsche 944, 924S, 944S, 944S2, 968 and some 911 models"
If there is supposed to be a check vale in the oil filter for a 944 due to it being installed upside down, then its clearly not the case that one filter fits all, if some have check valves and others dont!
Sorry, started to rant, but if I knew my filter needed a check valve I sure as hell wouldnt have bought one without it.

fyi the reason for a single motor on the lights is simple, its lighter and the lights always rise in unison and i think porsche patented it so the other manufactueres had to use the dual motor system.
