Rollbar or Rollcage? What do you recommend?

I have a redline in my garage, and another in my 951. I posted a for sale here last week and got responses from the other side of the country.
if someone near NYC wants it contact me. I dont know how i would ship it, and by the time i do it would probably be the same money as buying it directly from John. I have a red one in the 951 and a black one in the garage. i think i am too lazy to switch them around so the black is for sale unless you really want the red one.....

The Redline rollbar is bolted to the seat belt anchor points using Grade 8 bolts.
One may argue that all bolts, even grade 8 bolts will shear under enough stress. But consider this: lots of rollbars are bolted to plates which are welded into the car. Often these plates are welded onto the side frames of the car - ie flimsy sheetmetal. I would think that the seat belt anchor points are a bit more sturdy than bolting to a plate that's welded to sheet metal...
And I agree - rollcages aren't meant for street driven cars. Thus, a rollbar is a compromise for a street/track driven car. That said, a rollbar only reinforces the strongest point in our roofs - the section between the B and C-pillars. It's the section between the A-pillars that's the weakest point on our roofs, and what's most likely to start collapsing in the event of a roll-over.

I don't think anyone has a right to comment without some shear strength analysis or personal experience of failure.
Frankly, even if the mounts are not as strong as you would hope, it is still better than having no roll bar at all. Regardless, the majority of people will use it merely as a sturdy harness bar.
For what it is, its a fantastic product.

Serge - I should have clarified - I have a Redline Rollbar, and find it to be a wonderful product.
I too, don't like it when folks argue that a bolt-in cage doesn't have enough strength due to sheer strength issues of the bolts.

The price is $525 regardless as there is no markup on this product. Same price to individuals, companies and friends. John e-mailed me and told me that it would cost $645 shipped to California. Require a $200 deposit check and balance due upon delivery. He is just about to start a new batch so if anyone wants once, contact him so he can get it done for you by next month.
