Default How to use Harbor Freight AC Manifold to recharge?

Calling all AC gurus. I recently bought the Harbor Freight AC Manifold kit and vacuum pump and need some help using the manifold. I'm am reasonably familiar with recharging the AC system but am confused about how to use the manifold to actually add the R134.

Specifically, which of the two yellow ports do you hook the hose up to and how do you attach it to the R134 can?

TIA

I bought the pliers type can taps for both R-12 and R-134a. They are great and don't leak at all. You charge through the yellow line connected to the tap at the can. One of the yellow ports at the manifold is a dummy port that you use to seal the hose if you are just checking pressures first. I always connect the charging can with the LP(blue) valve closed, then crack it open at the can and then at the manifold to start the charge. The red valve at the manifold is never opened for charging.

Ah, ok, I hadn't figured out one of the yellows is a dummy. Where did you source the pliers can taps?

Thanks for the help!

I bought mine here. I bought a separtae pliers type for R-12 and R-134a because I have both systems in my fleet. The pliers type also tap the oil cans and dyes without having to open the system up. I also have the brass R-134 tap to do quick work taking less than a whole can. I bought mine here but a Google of "R-134a can tap" will give you plenty and probably cheaper. I wish you would stop showing your new interior, it makes me jealous.

Thanks Steve, sounds like a trip to NAPA/Autozone is in order tomorrow.

Oh, and thanks for helping make my new interior even 'cooler'

Thanks Cra$h, I think I've about got it figured out though. Stopped by Autozone today and bought the can taps, that was the piece of the puzzle I was missing. I'll let you know how it goes.
