Question Plastic Gas Tank Fuel Filter Metal Piece Question

While checking the fuel filter in my gas tank yesterday (968) I noticed that the gas tank fitment metal piece that the fuel filter screws into "slipped out" of the plastic tank ever so slightly when I was tightening it down. I tapped it back into the tank, put in a new rubber seal and retightened the filter...and it does not leak and all seems well. But is it? Anyone experienced this? Also, if this were to ever become a problem, is it possible to fix this part by using epoxy to secure the metal piece to the plastic tank again? It's really tight right now and slipped only 1/32" so I'm hoping all's well. It's tight. I'm going to fill the tank and take a 20 mile trip on a bumpy road for a shakedown test.

Anyone done a gas tank fix before? I suspect all the 924-944-951-968 tanks are built on the same principle.
