I'm looking into adding an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on my '86 944.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with a gauge which will work for our application? What else besides the gauge itself do I need to get? Where does it tap into?
Thanks in advance.

I think a lot of the folks who have switched gauges have gone to mechanical instead of electrical. The sender is right below the oil filter on the oil cooler console. If you go this route you will have to adapt the 1/8 npt fitting the the metric hole in the console and probably come up with a new electric pressure sender for the idiot light on the dash. Racer Parts and Pegasus both had little 1/8 npt senders in various pressure ratings last I looked.

I have an autometer that I installed to match the A/F ratio gauge and it works great. I didn't really like the idea of running an oil line into the car or anything, so got an electrical gauge.
Autometer gauges (if you look at the description when you buy it) should come with the adapter. I never did get around to actually hooking up the sending unit even though it shouldn't be that hard...

I think I recall SidViscous posting about replacing a sender with oil still in the motor and basically all it did was drip a little bit because of what was in the console.
I think the folks who have switched to mechanical did so because electrical can be flakey and inaccurate.
