Question Best method of cleaning milkshake out of engine block/radiator

So I am helping my brother put together his first 944, bought it cheap because it needed oil cooler seals. Currently the radiator is out of the car - what cleaners can we run through it and the coolant tank to get the gunk out. Also, how do you clean out the engine?

My personal method is to run it for a short trip using "Coastal brand" 99 cent/quart oil. Then I drain that out and put the normal oil back in, everythign is fine.

Same thing should work with the cooling system, they make a cleaning solution that you can buy at any auto parts store for the purpose. Just run it for a few minutes and replace with coolant.

The tanks are reasonably cheap to buy new -- you can clean it, but you can't clean away the yellowing of the plastic.

"Shout" for clothes, water, cycle to warm, drain... repeat 3 times and you'll still see remnants at the next coolant flush, but only once.

With the radiator out, not sure what method... but Shout is what my very experienced P-car wreches always use.

The reason I am trying to save the coolant tank is because it was replaced right before the milkshake was made.......

simple green the radiater with a 60 40 mix in the radiater...then when the car is running, just put straight water in the system and change it out 2-3 times adding a little more coolant each time till it is the correct mix
