Know anything about Hypertech/Dinan 944 chips?
... for an '86 na?
This was installed by the PO; the Hypertech box with original chip was in the glovebox. I contacted Hypertech, and got this message back within a day (great customer service! plus they actually had an employee who had been around enough to remember the 944 ):
"The Porsche chips we used to sell were made by a company called Dinan which I believe not to be in business any longer. We discontinued these products about 10 years ago and we do not have any information available. I do know the air/fuel mixture and timing curve was the major adjustment and there must be 93 octane fuel in the tank when it is installed. Thanks"
I didn't think chipping did much, if anything, for the n/a cars but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the claimed performance gains or anything else about the Hypertech chips. I believe they are highly regarded for some of the later American muscle cars.

I thought that Dinan primarily did aftermarket and tuning for BMWs. At least that's where I saw that name. From what I've heard, their products are a bit late in coming to the market when compared to other sources, but when it gets there it's the best (and priced that way too). Anyway, this is all just what I heard.

I don't think Dinan is out of business. Maybe they got restructered, though. It would explain the banner on their home page.
