Clutch Failure:
Stock S2, had a clutch job 2 years ago, and it is strictly a track car. Customer was going down a long straight, shifted from 3rd to 4th, and then there was nothing. Thought you guys might get a chuckle out of it.

It is a stock sachs updated (spring center from the old rubber ones) disc. He claims that he rev matches on all down shifts. Everything in the driveline appears to move freely and smoothly as well, so that shouldn't have caused anything.

This was an upshift... rev matching isn't really hard, just let the rev drop a bit while you shift, right? Maybe he shifted too fast and the revs couldn't drop. But still, that's just crazy.

even if he dumped the clutch from the top of 3rd to 4th the impulse shouldn't have been enough to break the clutch disk, the springs should have compressed, it should have slipped, and the tires should have chirped 1st. Perhapes the installation depth is incorrect (bur on the splines or similar) putting it in a bind in the axial direction which caused fatigue and then failure.
I just installed this same part, and hope the same doesn't happen to me

Doc: Who installed the clutch 2 years back? you guys or someone else?
Could be a manufacturing defect from the start, or maybe bad installation (just taking a wild guess here).
