Vacuum Hose Removal

Vacuum Hose Removal
At the Brake Booster, I need to remove the large hose (944.355.401.00) from the Booster Check Valve. The barb from the check valve is very tight in the hose. I would prefer not to cut the hose since the length is marginal. Also, I believe there is a metal insert in this hose; if so, is it only at the elbow bend? Suggestions/experience appreciated.

I don't know what car yer working on, butt, I do know these check valves (being plastic), are easliy broken. They really don't cost that much IIRC, if you do break one, butt, my best luck has been to take the check valve outtta the booster first, using a couple of putty knife type tools, with a shot of silicone spray or any lubricant you can spray in and around that rubber grommet first. Then, get a good hold on the hose, and pull that puppy straight outta the hose with a good amount of twisting force and persistance! Hope it works for ya. I don't remember any metal insert being in there.

Thanks. It was easy enough to remove from the Brake Booster grommet. Fortunately, there were only three barbs (covering 3/8 inches in length) on the check valve into the large hose; therefore I just cut 3/8 inches off the hose and it came off easily. The hose is still long enough to reuse. You are correct, there is no metal insert in this preformed hose.
