Default What is this part?

Hey guys,

After doing a bunch of work on my car, I found this laying n the garage floor. I cant figure out if it goes to the old engine, or the new 986 engine.
The part number is 944 606 151 00. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Jared

I just found that on PET, and the name for it just says "box". It shows it sitting near the DME etc. but I don't know exactly what it does.

That is part of the DME unit. It sits up and to the rear of the DME box. IIRC it is anti theft switch.

Ok, cool. Do you know if it belongs to a 2.5L DME or a 3.0L DME? I know the security system is different on the 968's engine, and I had to bypass it for the most part.

Thanks

Where is the altitude sensor located? Would that being disconnected cause the car not to start?

Ok, It does connect right next to the DME on the main electrical wire. That still doesent help my no start condition, though :P

Thanks for the help guys

Should not cause a non-start issue. It is a no/nc switch. At higher altitudes, the switch closes and the DME changes the fuel maps.
