thinking of selling the 951

Yes spent the day driving it... handles nice , don't like the spacing between gears 1-4...~6.5psi @ 3.5K in 6th gear, max of 10psi (by 4K) when I have more time ill get more detailed
dropped it off for service...seems to have a lot of stuff going wrong for only 40K miles. Needs new flywheel (service manager said it's common on the Minis...) new gauge cluster (to fix broken clock), new door lock acutators, etc
Overall seemed like a fun car...handles VERY VERY nicely for a stock fwd car..

I would have thought quality on those would have been better. I still think the WRX fits most people's needs better then the Mini, and WAY faster. If that matters to you.
I don't know about the classic car insurance. I asked Grundy, the largest classic car insurance company in the US about insuring a 1986 951, and they said only if I had a "real classic" (her words) I could add the 951 to the policy. I asked her what's the difference between a 951 and a pos 1964 ford falcon and she just looked at me like a deer in headlights. It was her point that they have no year limits on thier policies.

I have her insured classic, it costs me 38.00 cad a month unlimited km's, just cannot use as daily driver. I just got quoted on the boxster, 110.00 cad a month fully comp, Mini cooper S 130.00 cad a month. To insure the 951 fully comp would run me over 200 cad a month.

FWIW, in the US I use American Collectors Insurance on my 951 -- $332 for the 12 months with comp/collision but I'm limited to 5000miles/year.

The 951 makes me want to fly, its such a rush when the turbo kicks in ,I jsut feel its a matter of time before my luck runs out. Having said that , a change of circumstance has opened a door to me keeping the car. Wifes expecting, so no cash for boxster / mini till next year, : )

Whatever you do stay with Porsche in the past five years I owned three and every time sold it to buy something more modern.
I just bought my fourth Porsche and hope I've learned my lesson, once owned a Porsche you'll NEVER by happy with anything else.

UDpride - no ****storm complaints from me, as I was very impressed when test driving the Evo VIII last year. Got to 105 in nothing flat on the test drive with my 8 year old in the back - "Nice Car Daddy!"...
BUT, for what you pay for that, you can restore a 951S and have one heck of a fast car that'll hold it's value pretty well. That's what has made me not buy an Evo or a WRX STi, even though they're a lot of car for 30K.

87 951 - O-ringed, Chipped, Coil-Overs, 400lb springs, 29mm torsion bars, Race Exh, Rollbar (SOLD, and missing it!)
