Default Keys

I just called the Porsche dealer so that I could get another set of keys made for my car and they informed me that the wheel locks and alarm key are no longer available. Does anyone know where I can get blanks for those two plus the main ignition key?

I recall someone saying the alarm blank was the same as one of the SAAB blanks. I re-pinned the cylinder to make it work with my ignition key, so it's not that different (I think it's just a little narrower)

Make a trip to your local full service locksmith. They should be able to set you up.

I think the dealer should be able to get a new factory alarm key made using your VIN number. OTOH, there is always the option of taking out the lock cylinder and reconfiguring the pins to work with your regular door lock key.

You can have a wheel lock key made up using a generic blank at a local lock smith.

I am pretty sure Performance Products and probably Pelican also advertise key blanks for the wheel locks, not sure about the alarm key.

The alarm key is the same blank as the ignition key. It works on my early car/alarm.

944 ignition keys are a match to Audi/VW (my wife's key is a VW)
Many 944 owners I know had the wheel locks drilled off.

I broke my wheel lock key and the dealer told me the same thing. I sent a picture of the broken key next to a rueler to this guy: http://www.keys4classics.com He wrote back that he'd cut me a key and guarentee that it would work. He also lists on eBay. May not be the cheapest option, but works great even with a broken key.

I know i have had copies made of my ignition key at my local hardware store (for me its an Ace hardware) where they do key copying. I bet they could copy the alarm and wheel lock ones too. These cars do not have any kind of special chips in the keys that you need to get done at the dealer they are regular copiable keys for the ignition and my bet would be the other 2 are the same as well.

The problem is the blanks are individual, not all cars have the same blanks. Thanks a ton guys. I will check into a few of these options.
