Default Quick Question: Header Panel Removal

I have taken off the top 4 screws that hold the header panel on, but it is still attached.

There are two screws under each headlight but they are flat so I'm not sure how to remove them. Should I wedge something underneath to remove it, or is there a better way?

Thanks.

Those screws arent what are holding it. Take a 10mm small socket, remove the rubber under each headlight. There are 2 10mm bolts on the end of the header panel connecting them to the fender.

There are rubber pieces on either side that need to be removed that will give you acces to the remaining bolts/screws. They slide in underneat the header panel, right in front of the headlights. Have you pulled those out yet?

Yes you do.

Pull the rubber boot off of the headlight motor. Rotate the **** under there by hand until they flip up.

Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get at the bolts.

I got the head lights up but I don't have a 10mm socket.. so I'm going to have to wait until tommorrow.

I was able to replace the bumper shocks and I have to admit it was a PITA.

After much strain and stress the head panel is now out.

No one mentioned the two screws between the headlights though.

There are also the small 8mm nuts and washers under the rubber piece, but that should've been pretty obvious. Total of four screws across the top, one 10mm bolt & washer each side (towards outside/fender) and one screw towards the inside. Those ones are particularly easy to drop.

Once you've done it once or twice it isn't that hard, unless you have a 924, 931 or early 944 - those are spot-welded.
