Default This sucks

i shut the passenger side door on my 944 and the rear mirror glass on that side FELL OUT AND SHATTERED all over my garage floor. the cheapest replacement i can find is 65$!!! just the glass. if i get a replacement glass should i just glue it back on to the rubber pad, or will it just fall out again?
i hope i can find one on ebay... nothing yet.

Yeah this seems to happen with some 944s. I just replaced the driver side mirror on my moms 944. You push a small gear type thing and pry out the old mirror(including the plastic backpiece) and reinstall. Easy to see what to do, matter of patience putting it back in

Get a glasscutter to make a template from the existing one and cut it for you.
10 bucks tops, It's happened to me twice.

If you go to a glass shop, most of them sell replacements already cut and can order the correct one for you. The catalog used at my glass shop had the wrong dimensions for a 944 (smaller with larger corner radii), but the 928 side rear view mirror glass one worked perfect. I think it was like $15 and I just siliconed them to the existing plastic frame. Both sides have held up for over 5 years now.
