Default Water Pump Hose repair

I've manage to nick the Coolant Expansion Tank to Water Water Pump hose on my S2 (not all the way through so it's not leaking, but enough to make it a weak spot for a failure in the future.) These things are expensive to replace ($78 at Pelican), so I thought I'd repair it.

The most straightforward way to repair a hose like this is to cut it at the damaged spot, the rejoin using a tube and a couple of clamps. I have some copper tubing, but I was worried about the copper reacting electrolytically with the aluminum. I was worried that plastic connector tubing (as used in irrigation systems, for example) might not withstand the heat very well. Any other suggestions?

At the moment I've just put a clamp around the nicked spot to give it a bit of strength when the system is pressurised, but I see this only as a temporary stop-gap repair. Any other ideas anyone might suggest for a repair of this type?

You could use an aluminium pipe.

have you checked ebay, it's none of those hoses? most hoses are under 20 bucks there

I tried the 'bay, but no luck. It's an S2 specific hose (part no. 944.106.217.02), so I don't think there will a huge number on offer.

Even google didn't come up with much. Pelican was the only supplier I could find that listed these as a stocked item (outside of a Porsche dealership, of course).

Mark,

Post a separate thread and ask for a used hose. Many of us have replaced them and have an old hose laying around. If I hadn't left mine behind in the Caribbean, I'd give it to you.

Good luck!
