Default Manual steering tie rods

Do the inner tie rod ends thread all the way down to the rack? I don't think I'm close enough in the overall length to put the manual rack in the car (~1" short) and the out ends are only engaged by about 3 threads on each side.

Did you get different tie rods, extend the early offset ones, or do Travis' trick to convert power tie rods?

yes, the inner end is the same for both early and late offset. it's the outer ends that are different, the rod itself is female thread on the late offset.

i have at least 1" of thread engagement on the rack itself, if i back that off a 1/2" or so on each side (if i can) i should be ok.

Sorry, edited my original question while you were responding. I'd want more than a 1/2" engaged, this is your steering we're talking about.

i have the bottom one.

does the right side of the tie rod in that picture need to be threaded all the way down? or is there some adjustment at both ends? does that make sense what i'm asking?

i think his trick involves buying the proper size/thread piece of threaded rod and using power steering ends.

PET shows a stop ring 477 419 827 and an M22 x 1.5 nut 171 419 855.
Your tie rods should be 944 347 033 03. -01 are the early ends.
