Buy some diamond plate, a plasma cutter, and a bender and have at it! Then of course, offer to do this for the rennlist community for free!

These are on ebay all the time. Have thought of picking them up myself since they are relatively cheap.

Ebay Aluminum 944 floor mats

And also check out the Rennline mats, they have a smooth design that looks really clean, but costs more.

is this paper thin?
Thin .60-mil diamond plate material, which is thin and durable.

OUCH! Now that is a prime example of ebay at its finest. Gotta love the small print!

Shipping that costs the same as the item itself. Sweet.

It might work well if you have a stripped out interior. I'd think that it would slide too much over carpet, though...

ok, i guess having a sick kid and being home alone makes me do bizarre things.

i just got my vernier gauge and measured a rheem of 20lb paper. it is 54mm thick with the wrapper. 54mm is 2.16" FYI.

so lets round it up to 55mm for 500 sheets. so if 500 sheets are 55mm, then 50 sheets are 5.5mm and 5 sheets are .55m then on half sheet is .055m so five and a half sheets of paper are .6m. take into account i measured the wrapper and the thickness of those mats are between 5 1/2 and 6 sheets of paper thick.

six sheeets of paper is a little thinner than a CD using my fingers as a gauge.

i know weight is the enemy and it is tough to bend metal etc. do you think the grippy notches will be felt on such a thin piece? i want the texture to hold my foot a bit, just a wee bit.

im off to home depots site to see if they sell something more like 3/8" thick

Check out Wood Trim.com and Brushed Aluminum.com
for this kinda stuff, not a whole heck of alot for our cars, but still neat stuff. Combine all of their products together, and you can make a badass interior.
