Cross Post: AC compressor clutch removal
I searched this topic in the archive and saw people seeking advice on how to remove the nut from the front of the compressor... What I am really interested in is how the actual clutch disk can be removed withouth the special puller tool, and without breaking it by trying to pry it off with a screw driver. I tried the screw driver method on my parts car for grins and I didn't break anything, but I also didn't apply enough force to remove the clutch. Is the puller something that can be rented at auto zone?
Thanks!
Thanks!

when i was pickign up a tool to rent yesterday at auto zone, i know i saw that they have one for ac. i do not know if the porsche versions are different for any reason that the tool cant be used though.
i thought that kyle said you got a turbo, i didnt ask questions, but i assumed it was one that was driveable and in good shape...

Yes, I found the tool to pull the clutch center at Auto Zone. I probably would've damaged the rubber in there had I tried to remove it without the tool. Apparently the tool is a pretty standard part.

Cool, Thanks for the responses..
Kenny,
I did indeed get a turbo. It is a pretty solid car, but I have already put 3,000 miles on it, so its time for some routine fiddle around maintenance... We all need to hang out in C-bus this summer sometime. I'll give you a shout next time we're all kicking back.
