Picture for reference. This is taken from underneath where the transmission bolts to the torque tube housing, looking forward. The opening to the lower right in the housing is covered up by a black rubber plug that just pops out.

This is what a clutch with a bad rubber center looks like. Note the split around the center. This is where the play and slop come from.

mine doesnt do that when you let off the gas, it just slows down as normal, no noises. Only when I accelerate hard. After replacing the trnasmission mounts, the noise and bumping seem a little bit softer than before. I dont know what this means, but if it isnt the clutch, is it possible that I have a bent torque tube? Does anyone with experience that lives around manassas VA wanna ride w/ me to help determine my problem? Thanx

oh this worries me. the PO said that the clutch had been done at some point before, but upon hearing why the car lurches when slowing down, i now believe that it still has the rubber center clutch. i thought it might be the cv's but now....

nope, not when sitting with car in neutral and clutch out at a stoplight, or while the clutch is pressed in and the car is in any other gear at a stop sign.

So not motor mounts. My understanding about failing bearing in the torque tube is that they whine and then don't whine anymore. And there are what, like 4 sets of bearings so one can fail and not cause any really noticeable issues.

yea, the motor mounts were cracked and my dad replaced em' a few years ago. (Bump for more ideas hopefully). I will probably end up taking it to a shop if I can't figure it out here.
