Nice project write up! Why haven't you put racing seats in? Saves weight!

Also, for others rebuilding engines, it's a really good idea to build oil pressure BEFORE you start it up for the first time. Pull the DME relay, coil wire, whatever, to ensure it won't start, then turn the key and let it crank for 15 or 20 seconds, pause for a minute or so, and do it again as many times as needed to build oil pressure. It'll feel like the longest 10 minutes of your life, but your engine will thank you for it.

Van, in due time. I ran out of money...but seats and a cage are next on the list.

Thanks for the tip on the oil pressure...I really wish I would have done that

Awesome Chris... my seats are my next project... The side brackets on the sparco's don't line up with the factory holes, they are too narrow. So need to fab a mounting plate. I'm also waiting on John to finish my fancy Redline Rollbar. Good to see your project is coming along nicely. Good luck with the track season!

Thanks, Eric, you too!

I know what you mean about the seats...I've been doing a little research so I don't end up in the same boat. I'll probably just end up with sliders for the 924/944 and just mount them with my "upgraded" bolts that go through the floor pan with fender washers on the bottom. The stock seat bolts are down-right frightening.

Chris,
The sparco side rails an a sparco seat will line up with the stock bolt holes on the early tubs (like 924S tub). The later tubs use a slightly different seating arrangement.

However bolting through the stock bolt holes is not ideal for a racing seat. Those stock bolts are quite small. Much better to go through the floor with big bolts and large backing plates. I posted something about this in the NASA forums a few months back. Search should bring it up.

I agree, those stock bolts are pretty worthless, plus the nut in the chassis strips very easily and are a huge hassle.
I wouldnt trust something like that with my safety, just buy some high grade bolts, drill through the floor, use a backing plate and use two nuts to tighten it down.

Good point guys. I'll be sure to do that, especially since the bolts will be the only cheap thing I'll be buying...

Thanks!

In regard to the sunroof panel: I have no idea to be honest. I've never been in a late model 944, and the 924S interior is based off the early chassis...so if I had to guess, I would say no.
