LSD is an option on our cars. it just depends which cars came with those options chosen by the owner. but turbo S did come with lsd standard i believe. that wouldnt be a good match for your 85.5 n/a anyway. if you check out racer x's homepage (can someone provide a link? i'm at work and don't have access to my home computer) you can check out the various gear ratios. you're basically going to need a whole new tranny with LSD. A tranny from an S2 like yieldsign got would be perfect.

LSD was an option pretty much all 944-series car except for the 951S/89' 951 as it became a standard item. There have been some on ebay every now and then, the last one selling for just over $400. Unless you know how to take a transmission apart, it would be cheaper to get another transmission with the LSD already equpped as the installation itself is at least a few hundred $$$.

An LSD tranny just sold on eBay yesterday for $510 plus $150 for crate/ship. Looking for something like that is best option. I recently bought an 85.5na parts car specifically to take out the LSD tranny and some other goodies -- that's a little extreme, but another option....

whats is involved to turn your own tranny into an LSD tranny? the 924S tranny is coming out anyways for a rebuild so this would seem like a good option!

If your rebuilding the tranny i would just buy an aftermarket LSD and stick it in there. I believe the top two companies are Guards and Quaife (spelling?). I think you should expect to pay about $1000 for one.

If I'm not mistaken, the Porsche LSD option can be retro-fitted into an existing trans. Would seem to be that this would possibly be the most cost effective option.

Wonder how much a trans shop would charge to put that in for you? Would be the right time to rebuild the trans while your in there, replace all the possibly worn out parts. Eh?

for the closest gear ratios - find a transaxle out of a 944S

That was me who got that LSD. It'll be going into my 91 S2 tranny then into my 87 951. The end result will be far more valuable then what I have into the LSD and the S2 which I pulled it out of... which I'm now parting... (shameless plug) www.tuc1138.com/944parts/
