anyone ever have a lugnut shear off?

The factory manual actually suggests that you use the correct size hole saw, which will fit right around the stud and get the nut clean off. Be prepared to replace that stud anyway, no matter what you do it's going to get damaged.

I would be shocked if you could do that without severly damaging the wheel but it would certainly work.

we arent using a small air chisel, we are grinding down a big 1/2" one, and we shaped the end of it to best match the contour of the lug, i have to work in an hour so i wont attack it today, but i'll post results on my accomplishment (or failure) after i pick a method

ended up drilling it, proper hole saw would have cost more than a new stud, so what the hell, might not have been able to salvage it anyway. thanks for all the input guys
