Do I need a new battery?
I left my battery connected over the winter, because I totally forgot to take it out. Now obviously its dead, and for the last 4 days i've left it on trickle charge every night. Two nights on 2 amps and two nights on 6. Each morning the car powers on, but will not crank. The battery simply dies when the key is turned. This is kicking my behind because the weather is nice and I want to drive my car...

Once a lead acid battery goes dead, say below 9 volts, it will never be the same again. My lawn mower sits over the winter so I put the trickle chager on it every two months for 10 hours. My neighbor buys a new battery for his every spring.
On a car, I would replace the battery if it went that dead. Sooner or later it will not start the car.
