Power lumbar + and -, and I will have to check the other 2. The button is for the seat heater.

Yes I did! There were only 12 in the yard then, not counting the ones we arrived in!
Will find the cd and post a pic or two again.

OMG that's gorgeous!

How come you're reducing your collection down? Just need space? Argh. I always thought it was totally cool that you had more 944s than a lot of P-car dealerships had back in the 1980s!

Okay, I know I'm gonna' regret this - but what else you got? (braces for financial temptations, reprucussions and spousal retribution).

DUDE. Get the reliable daily drive Jeff. Do IT NOW!!!! That is an order. LOL

As an aside, I am thinking about getting a sport bike. There is a track, jennings GP , about 40 minutes north of here that is only motorcycle. Black effing hole dude. I hit that track pipe and it was over. LOL.

Man, that was gorgeous -- I can't believe you let it go!

I'm going to regret this -- but tell me about the 89 951s and the body work it needs.... Unlike POP, I don't have to worry about spousal retribution. (POP, weren't you just alluding to a mystery 944 track car in the 'insane paint idea' thread? And a potential TT?)

As an aside -- I consider Legoland as a 'Rennlist contributer'. In my book, he doesn't have to become a member if he doesn't want to. Plus, he's missing out on all the Off Topic nonsense -- it's his own damn loss.

BTW -- I still have those front struts. They are with the parts car, which is in storage at Sean's.

Edit: 5 bikes? What are they?

Jeff, I will have much less time to wrench and play car stuff with the kid coming in 6 months. I guess I will be able to advice people on how to fix their cars in future get togethers but won't be able to do the all all day marathons anymore. Having a forklift and a mess of cars in the backyard is far from "childproof". Come by over the weekend. I have a manual steering rack I found at pick your parts...

Joseph, I had a 1993 GSXR 1100 (sold last week), 1993 GSXR 750 (traded), 1990 GSXR 750(traded the last bike and this one for a 2003 yzf 600r), 2001 CBR 600f4i, and a 1989 GSXR 750. Now I am down to 3 and going to sell them all to get a 180hp stock 2004+ R1. I was contemplating a new one at $12k but opted not to since I don't believe in wasting money on depreciation. A nice 2004 is still around $8k and has 30 more hp than the 2003 with 150hp. Its nice having a fuel injected bike. No more carb synchronization or jetting. A nice power commander programmable via laptop does the trick now. I still can't believe how light newer bikes are compared to my 1979 CBX with an inline 6 cylinder. I wish I didn't sell that bike back in 1993.

Makes sense - congratulations by the way. . . I guess it isn't exactly childproof, but OTOH you just have to teach 'em to be careful and stay where they're not going to get hurt (I'd be worried about them climbing up the embankment and onto the 405!)

Thinking about those seats - weren't those the ones out of 928s? I know they bolt straight-up to a 944, but I don't know if they were actually a factory option for our cars. Maybe though. Very nice in any case. Man, you HAVE to keep yourself a 951 or two! ESPECIALLY with a kid on the way - once that happens, there probably won't be much money or time for toys - so I'd get 'em now while you still can!

I'll try to swing over this weekend - it'd be good just to say hello and catch up (been a while - I've been a phantom lately simply 'cause I'm so busy). Geoff is in town also (Porschephile924) so you can meet him too. Good luck with your other projects - nothin' like a little time pressure as a good motivator I guess!

Joe, the flat-black idea was actually a consideration for my early car (the Callaway one). I trying to find a role for it but I love that car too much to make it a track *****. I think I'll probably go with my original paint idea for it and just keep it on track to become a nice early, Callaway-converted specimen that's mostly to polish up and drive on the weekend once in a while and show off, rather than track. The car is mechanically damn nearly perfect and has a great body with no major dings, rust and a perfect accident history (except for the idiot that backed into it and collapsed the R/H front bumper shock while I was sitting in it). Just the paint sucks. That's all it needs - plus the completion of my upgrades. Should be a nice collector's piece I can keep.

The 951 I'm not so sure of. Honestly I'd trade/sell that one before the early n/a. I'm weird like that. For now I've got too much time & money into it to sell, so I want to drive it for at least a year or two before entertaining sale.

The red n/a I like - it's pretty (and red!) and runs like a top now, but I could see selling that one too in order to upgrade to a 911 or a 968 (hint, hint. ) for me later on. For now, the plan is to make it a nice daily driver and it's almost there. Just a few minor cosmetic issues to address. I like the idea of the TT 'cause they're fun, newer and actually a little better on gas than an n/a 944. If I found a good deal on a TT roadster I'd sell the red car and get the TT, use it as my daily driver and then decide down the road what to do about the 951 (sell? Trade for S2 cab or 968? All options).

Better to have too many cars than too few I guess.

The 928 seats are different. They have a different seat bottom stitchings and are a little wider. These are 944 seats and look exactly like a normal late model seat other than the controls. Jeff, I am keeping only 1 turbo, the 88 with 17" cup 2 wheels.

Legoland, you should really take a picture of all your cars in one place, it would be rad! Or at least as many as possible at once...

Uh oh.

Of course if you buy that '89 turbo-s you wouldn't "need" the 968, wouldja?

Or I could work something out with Lego to buy it, then trade it to you for the 968. . . Hmmm. . .

Glad you're keeping a 951 of some sort Frank, one 951 is better than none! Besides, yes you can fit car seats into them. A 951 is a great family car - safe, quick and powerful enough to get you out of potentially unsafe situations. With its economical four-cylinder engine it is efficient and will save you a lot of money in gas costs versus a "conventional" minivan or SUV. . .

God, I can rationalize anything. I'm quitting now before I start believing all this. . .

kevincnc, to answer your question, I've been a member for years, when it expired this past Sept, I will become a paying member once my car is driving (once I fix a ground or 2) and pouring all this money into my car has put me behind in my rent and tutition so I don't exactly have an extra $20 ( I know, sad ) to spend. If it makes you feel better, I have bought 2 other rennlisters memberships, as one did for me way back in 2001...
