Default 944 LS1 race car

I was at the PCA track day at Mosport today and was assigned to grid. Talking to my co-worker about the great cars out there and he said wait till you see the red 944 with the big wing. Well there it was sliding through nine and it sounded, well different. The car came in and I spoke to the driver. He was assigned to the grid so he told me the story. The donor car is an 88 turbo with LSD and he dropped in a modded LS1 with 450 hps. The weight penalty was 9 lbs. The transplant was pretty easy and he suggested staying pretty well stock on the engine to start and as for the wing, well its "butt ugly' but came with car. I'm inspired. BTW I got to drive around the track with an instructor in his 944 and I kept thinking theres something wrong with my car it doesn't pull anything like this. When I got out I noticed TURBO on the back, that splains things. As far as the LS1 other drivers were in awe, especiallly commenting on how the thing pulled away from them after the hairpin.

I bet that thing was a mover...

The LS1 is a beast, was that 450 at the wheels or crank?

I have a LS1 Z/28 and with a CAI and cat-back it put down 301 at the wheels through an automatic. Stock M6's are known to dyno upwards of 320...

Get some vids and pics if you see it again, I've seen lots of LT1 swaps, but never an LS1...very popular RX7 swap as well.
