Do 16x9 clubsports "S-rims" fit on the front instead of the 16X7 from the factory??? Anybody try ? They fit sitting there but I'm unable to drive it right now to know.

Since it looks like youre running "coilovers" in front (from your signature block), I assuming you have a smaller diameter front spring, 2 1/2" or 2 1/4"? If so, yes you should be able to use the 9x16 et 60s in front.

Depending on alignment (camber), the 9s will often rub the spring on a stock car (w/ a regular M030 Turbo S front spring).

You get intelligent advice (thanks oddjob!) and I get this:

Where did I go wrong?

I don't know about 16x9's, but the stock rear 16x8's with an offset of 52.3mm work fine in the front.

A lot of it depends on the offset of the wheel (which should be the same, or similar), as well as the profile of the tire (if the tire is too tall, you'll have fender rubbing issues.)

Dan, I missed that thread.

One of the frustrations with a board like this: You get a lot of people that will answer without understanding the question, no actual idea or experience but quessing at an answer, speculating, sharp shooting, etc.

For the record: I did try to put 9s on the front of my TS about 11 years ago. Thought I was pretty smart at the time. Swapped the fronts with the rears (by the way, the car looks stupid with 7s on the back). Looked like they bolted up fine, but as soon as I moved it, terrible/shrill squeaking noise. The wheel lip (not the tire) was rubbing against the spring.

I had the car aligned for Yoko A008Rs at the time, so probably about -2.0 to -2.5 deg camber, and was slightly lowered from stock US ride height. My guess is that with -1.0 or less, it would probably not rub the spring, and may still have a little outboard fender clearance.

I do know that with a smaller diameter spring, it wont rub on the inside and you can run enough neg camber (good track alignment) so there wont be any rubbing on the fender.

I have also seen and heard of several track cars that do run 9s (specifically the Turbo S Club Sport et 60s) w/ 245/45/16s no problem (always assumed they had smaller ID springs or had figured out something with spacers, camber and ride height to find some inboard spring/wheel clearance).

Yes our springs are smaller than stock and we both have camber plates so our neg camber is not an issue because the spring moves with the wheel. Thanks for all of the great input, We appreciate it but I'm not sure at this time if adding track in the front and not in the back is a wise move. 275 in rear would be nice to go with 245 up front but I'll research the availability. Thanks to all again.
