How do I tell if this is a 2.7L 944?
I'm going half/half with my co-worker on a wrecked or f'd up 944. I want chassis and engine to build a auto-x/track car and he wants a 5sp tranny for his 83 LT1 car. I have the VIN but the description of the car is shotty. Is there a way to tell from thie VIN? Or how would I tell?

Wes:
If it is the original motor in the chassis, and the car is a 1989 model, then it's a 2.7 liter. That is the only year they made a 2.7 liter 944 n/a motor, and they didn't make a 2.5 liter n/a motor in 1989. (In 1989, the product line was: 2.7 liter 944 n/a, 3.0 liter 944S2, and the 2.5 liter Turbo S)

Sillbeer, what is your username at rx7club.com...assuming you are over there. Gordon Monsen posts here occasionally. He owns the 20B Vert.
