The Astro Van, depending on year, rear end, etc, has 190hp and 250tq. It does 0-60 in 9.2 and the quarter in 17.1@79mph. These specs can vary from one tester to another, but it looks like the van wins in stock trim.

SO this should put your rantings to rest. But once again, it does not matter because the ones on Pinks are modified.
might wanna check a couple more reliable sites, since the 924 has never had 110 hp, and this paticular year had 115(if it was US). the 1995 safari i looked up had 225lbs of torque, and i wont bother to look up at another site since you 924 specs were way off. Also whatever site you pulled those 1\4 mile times off, you may just wanna use a hp/quarter mile calculator and see that the 924 wouldn't lose. But again guys, really this is just banter cause they are modded, even tho i am going to post 3 more times about this!

You guys are arguing about minivans!!!!!

And there are some sleeper minivans out there, case in point..a 12-second van.

http://www.turbovan.net/van.html

If your to lazy to check the link, its a '89 Dodge Caravan SE Turbo...yes turbo, from the factory. The thing i like about it the most is the simulated wood paneling.

Again, what the hell is your problem??? Do you enjoy attacking people for no apparent reason?? I know I asked if you were an *******, but now I know, even without a direct answer.

I only went into this with him because there was no reason for his assinine attacks. He is obviously one of those people that do not beleive numbers and think nothing can beat his car because it is a Porsche and he is the best driver in the world. I checked several sites and magazines and took average numbers. They made the Astrovan for about 20 years.

I did not watch but I would rather see one not winning than winning(in the public arena).....then you get all the folks who can't maintain them buying them up and ricing them out!

Same thing happens in the dog world....101 dalmations anyone

yeah, that 924 was a pretty sad sight, the fron end had an appearance more similar to a 300ZX with the strange headlights, then there was the big center hood scoop, and a jacked up rear end...did not look good

We're talking old 924s here. They're all headed to the crusher anyway.

The one on the show was a ratted out old hoopty. Mercifully they didn't show much of it. It appeared to be in two shades of primer with some backyard body modifications. Lotsa bondo.

Of course, the owner was walking around in a shiny new driver's suit that was probably worth more than the car.

The old guy with the Camaro knew what he was doing. He was probably one of the best drivers I've seen on that show.

i agree, whatever keeps them out of the crusher. it would be nice to see more 924's out there whether or not they are riced out.

did i get cheated?

the only episodes of PINKS that i saw aired last night were

800rwhp+ Camaro vs GMC Safari w/some insanely powerful motor

and

600RWHP Trans Am procharged, and nitroused vs Civic on 1.8L motor w/25 psi

i never saw 924 vs minivan.

i was looking forward to it, dammit!

oh, so i just missed the first part of the show?

edit- so that's why they bet the helmet?

omfg- that camaro was a ****ing beast......and so was the van! i dont care what motor that 924 had in it, there's no way that it would have beat the van, that was like, a damned 10 second or less car.

probably less, christ.

Yeah, somebody just needed a body to put his motor in. Probably picked it up far cheaper than they could have found a Camaro for and it weighs a lot less.

My question is, if someone is going to do all that work to install that stupid front end, a straight rear axle, and that drivetrain, why only put a 283 in there with only 313hp?? He could have stuck just about any small block in there and achieved a lot more hp. Just like the guy that looked in there at the beginning said "I expected a lot more".

It looked like something the guy cobbled together on the cheap. Probably already had the block, or got it for next to nothing. Which coincidentally is about what the entire lot was worth.
