Nice satin black spray paint everywhere, especially the coolant tank!

Sounds like an adventure. Hopefully your PO didn't delve too deep into the mechanicals...

I'll never again complain about my two non-working tail light bulbs!

No, I really like the Shimano battery clamps. Is something wrong with me? Is there product like this thats actually made for a battery?

If so, for the love of god put it on the negative cable. Unless you like electrical fires, that is.

+1 - I think the quick release idea is clever.

And I second Joel's advice!

I got a really good deal on the car, so I shouldn't really be complaining.
Here's what I got for $800.
1983 model - A/C Delete, Manual Steering.
951 Fuchs in good shape with new Fuzions. - Which will soon be for sale.
Working LSD trans.
It ran!
Autopower roll bar.
Decent interior despite the seats.

When I bought the car, it had about 6 oil leaks. Both the balance shaft housings were leaking from the end plug, the rear main was leaking, the front seal was leaking, and the oil pan gasket was completely shot. I ended up pulling the motor and resealing it completely, and also did the belts and water pump at the same time. I replaced the rod bearings while the pan was off, and the clutch, despite being rubber centered, looked VERY new. In the few days that I drove it around before I pulled the motor, the rear wheel bearings were louder than the exhaust, so I replaced those too (Not too bad on an early car).

Really, the PO's hack jobs are all minor fixes, and the car was a perfect candidate for auto-x. I picked up a set of 15X6 phone dials for $100, and have some Azenis on order. I also took the brand new brakes off my 924 project that I scraped, so the car has brand new brakes. I transfered the suspension from that car as well (custom made coilovers over bilstein shocks up front, and 28mm torsions in the rear). So far, I'm in about $2100, and selling the Fuchs should lower that quite a bit.

Here's a couple more pics. The BBSs I'm refinishing are 16X8 front, and 16X9 rear w/ a -2 offset. With a bit of negative camber, they fit perfectly. Also, I included a pic of how the interior was before I started ripping **** out.

That's got to be one of your better deals Dmitry, $800, clean car, Fuchs. Did the set of 16" BBS come with the deal? Those wheels should polish up real nice; did they also come with the center sections? Anyway looks like a steal to me; even better than that ill-fated 'S' in Sacto. You might want to check and see if you can even find a street tire for the 9" rears; track tires should be no problem.

Andy - for shame - you still haven't replaced the bulbs? Geez - they are about the easiest bulbs to replace - it's not like it's the front side marker light!

Do I have to come over, beat you with a bent valve and replace them for you?!?

Hahaha...that is awesome...I mean, I'm sorry you have all those problems, but some of them are just too funny.

Made by Shimano...hehe...

For shame!

ANd why the hell is there a BATTERY terminal in the dashboard? Is there a battery behind there or something?

Well, some cool stuff nonetheless, looks allright I guess otherwise.

The Shimano quick release is a great idea....maybe not for all pcars, but for the general public...ease to release battery when not using car...come on give the PO some props for that!

Now you know why the battery goes flat when you've left the car for 24 hours...got to undo the + side.

All I can say is Caveat Emptor.....

OK-

I had tg take a second look at the pedals-
Is that duct tape holding on the "racing" gas pedal?
And did the PO just screw the plates on with drywall screws?

Even with all the blemishes, I think you got a deal. All of that stuff is correctable......except for the the PORSCHE plate over the climate controls....LOL

Quick Reply: Yup, the PO was definately smoking crack.
