this ****s like gold! its now at like $150 a pound or something at a shop near by. with my discount i think i will be at $100 a pound. A couple individuals i knew that might have some arent letting me touch their stash! Is everyone just moving to R-134? or can i get an email where to get some bootleg stuff? LOL
Ironically, i have a new drier and the R-134 fitting, he is supposed to test my system and if the compressor is no good, i will change the compressor, drier, and fitting and use 134, if the system is good, i may pay for R-12. But with my 928 needing a fill too, its gonna run my $500 to get ready for the summer

I pay out the nose and drive away. Changing to R134 is not cheap nor all that trivial. I'm not convinced it's yet worth it. I'm talking about my '85S 32V 928. I don't even know if my '94 968 uses R-12. With my luck, it probably does.
I have a friend who, when he dies, is going to will me his 5 lb keg of R-12. Hope I don't need it soon!

I know a place that recharges for $30.00 a pound in the San Gabriel Valley. This stuff is the real deal R-12. I just put 2.5 pounds worth into my beater benz for about 90 bucks (27 dollar flat service charge).

Dang! im in Las Vegas, so i never luck out on good deals. Maybe i can drive to the east side and check out some of the Mexican shops and see if they are cheaper. Cause i know the cheapest tires in town are down there. And if porsche-o-phile is right and they are smuggling from tijuanan maybe i can just by a tank!
wanna ship some r-12 to vegas?

My Miata's AC is empty and if I refill it I'm probably going to switch over to R-134a. However, I'm not sure what the condition of all the components are so it's looking like I'd have to spend several hundred dollars just to figure out if I need a new compressor and such. At this point, it's just cheaper to drive the Porsche when I really need AC.

I have an "upgraded" R-134 system. Works pretty well except in extreme heat and humidity where the car has been outside. It just seems to have a hard time catching up.
I do have to get it recharged each season. Holds all summer long but seems to leak out somehow during the winter.

I went to 134 when I needed a new compressor last year. After that over $1,000 bill, nice cool air anytime. I can say that in EXTREME hot/humid weather, it does seem to take awhile to get down to temp but after 30 seconds to a min, you can get pretty cool air and after 3 mins you can get COLD air (if you are moving). When the weather around here gets in the high 90's with matching humidity, it is hard on ANY A/C system. Humid air just sucks overall!
