can anyone verify this? i dont believe it. what have you done to your car to make it so fast? what year, i thought the S's had the short transmission which would mean you'd run out of rpm's LONG before then.

It was a 1986 944, I've had 3 of those and an S2 as well as the 951..

The fastest 944 N/A I've driven was a friends 1984 and it hit the rev limiter in 5:th, about 250 km/h on the speedo.

I routinly hit 5800 RPM at Cal Speedway in my 944 spec car. That computes to 127.7 mph based on my gearing.

I did draft pass a Honda and hit 6000 RPM. That comes to 132 mph.

Now the track is 2.88 miles long I have solid 30 seconds WOT and a full 20 of them flat out in 5th. If I get things just right I MIGHT be able to tag 6400 RPM (140.9) in 5th if I get a really good draft and maybe 5 more hp from a nice cold day. Maybe not. The banking also causes me to lose a little speed too. Even so that is where I reach top speed.
Drafting another car at 130 mph then pulling out pass when you are 6" away is an intersting experience.
