Default WINDSHIELD CRACKED !@#$%^&*

Well I pulled a "dee dee dee". I was trying to bend the windshield arm a bit cuz my wipers kept popping out so I went to grab the arm on the passengers side when the arm slipped because it was wet from the rain and it slams onto the windshield and cracked it. I have a area like 2" x 4" towards the bottom so its not as noticeable but im afarid it will spread like wildfire. Has anyone had any success repair a good size crack with mutiple webs forming outward. Thanks in advance.

I have an extra windshield man. But I just cracked my windshield pulling my hood like a retard. So I need it. Might not even work on your car depending on the year.

My ride that doesn't run, lol. I'm in Crystal Lake. Give me a month and it'll be done, possibly sold too.

I did almost the same thing changing wiper blades on the 83. I had flipped one of them up after removal of the blade and it snapped down leaving a crater and 2" crack. Within a month it traveled a full 12" horizontally and 18" up diagonally. The first time I used the defroster on a cold morning the cracks took off and you could actually see them grow. Yes it will get worse especially if it's near the edge like that. Sorry for the bad news.

Sorry , you are doomed.
I had the wiper arm hammer of Thor come down on my drivers side once when changing the blades.
I had put a towel down, just in case...of course by a travesty of fun the wind blew at the exact time and the towel went and the arm came down!
That is one of the sickest thuds you will hear next to an accident.
I tried everything under the sun, including having a guy come out to drill it out and goo it. Looked fine, but the minute the sun came out later that week....the crack walked all over my windscreen.

Long story short.
New windshield time.
Also do a search here(windshield replacement) to make sure you get all the information you need!

I just cracked my windshield too. Last week I drove through a nasty pot-hole that felt like it tried to rip my front suspension out from under me, and when I got to work there was a nice 8" crack. Luckily I was in my truck and not the P-car. Lets hear it for California's awesome roads.

Sorry for going OT, I'm fighting the urge to rant.

does this have to happen if you are changing wiper blades and the arm accidentaly comes down. does it ALWAYS have to crack?

Yes-It's springs down with amazing force. Now I just remove the blade and set it back on the glass until I install the new one. I never flip them all the way up anymore when washing the windshield. Even with the blade on the wiper can flip over and break the glass if it falls. The sound it makes will make you cry, trust me.

Mine swatted down like that too but it didn't break the windshield.

THe springs must have given up much like the visor clips, my dashboard, my sunroof gears, my windshield washer cap etc.

Id think youi can get like Auto Glass specialists to do a "crack repair"? They use epoxy or a blowtorch or something... They fixed my buddy's wiondshield...

when you buy that new windshield (cuz you will soon) buy a non- antennae windshield ($200) as compared to an imbedded antennea windshield ($400 - factory part). It will fit (dont let them B.S. you) and just rewire you antenne to an after market euro-hood antennea.

it happened here too, luckily the cracks terminated themselves in a perfect circle. Just walked away from the car and started drinking beer.
