Default Tire question

Sumitumo HRTZ II's Good? bad? ugly?

They seem like quite the bargain.

No personal experience with them, but considered them a while back. I went with Kumho 712's instead. They did pretty well, but they're heavy. You might try Fuzion ZRi's. I ran them at the track and they held up very well. Grip was so so, but they're predictable and with full tread, hydroplaning was non-existant; this was California Speedway at 110+ mph in the pouring rain with my wipers on full blast too.

See this link, if you haven't already:

My Fusion ZRi's tend to flat spot very badly after heating them up and then parking. Takes about 25 miles at highway speeds for the flat spots to go away. Very annoying. Mainly noticeable on the rears 255/40/R17 I believe. Just my $.02

That's interesting because that was one of my main complaints with the Kumhos. I haven't had any flatspotting at all on the Fuzion ZR1 and I have them on the 951 and a 4100# Q45. Both sets have been on for over a year now. What tire pressure do you run? I keep mine at 34-35 psi and both sets. I run 255-40/17 (F) and 275-40/17 (R) on the 951 and 245-45/16 on the Q45. The 951 sits for 2 weeks at a time without any problems. I'm pretty sure I've parked both cars with hot tires many times.

Mark, buy the new RE050A Pole Position, it is even better than the S-03 and compared to the Michelin PS2 I thought the break away was better, the understeer was much less and there was less "chatter" through the corners. I wasnt much of a believer but they were really VERY good on the wet test track I was driving.

I personally liked the Sumitomo's. I've had good luck with Dunlop's in the past as well.
