HELP! Brake Repair
Either I am the dumbest car owner or I am missing something obvious. I am trying to change my front brake lines. I unscrewed the top nut at the top (its 11mm) but I can't get the line out. The line looks like it goes through a bracket that I can't figure out how it fits through. Did I unscrew the wrong nut? Should I be unscrewing the larger nut on the bottom of the bracket? HELP!

I can't remember if it's the top or bottom nut, I think you've got the right one. Basically once you have the correct nut removed, part of the brake line will come out and then you remove the bracket with a set of needle nose vice grips (pull straight out) and that will allow you to remove the other part of the brake line. You can also carefully pry with a screwdriver betwen the backside of the bracket and the fender well to help coax the bracket out once the nut is removed. Hope that made sense.

OK. I got the clamp out and attached the line but now how do I get that stupid rubber gasket over the end of the brake line so I can attach it to the clamp?

I cut mine, then when reinstalling it put the cut towards the inside of the guide. Worked fine for me, and has stayed put.
.......unless someone has a better way.

Jim and Austin 944 thanks for the help. I was able to get the front lines in. The first line took an hour and a half and the second line took 10 minutes. Its amazing how easy it is when you know what your doing. This weekend its on to the back lines. Hope that goes as well. Thanks again.
