Default Fan shroud is kicking my ***.

This is a joke right?

I'm trying to pull the fanshroud and this just not working. It only canmove an inch back or so befor hitting the AC compressor and between the upper coolant hoses and oil line below, I can barely move this much less get it out. Any tricks i'm not thinking of?

I'm trying to move the shroud so that I can get my 1/2" drive on the crank bolt. I can get the 3/8" on and turn it but am afraid I may break it....

Get a shorter socket? I never had problems getting a 1/2 drive socket on the crank bolt? You must be using a very deep socket? It's been a while since I removed the shroud -- I remember it's tight, but I don't think I had to take anything else off the car...
