Default NEW starter issue! Very strange.

Just got the new (remanufactured) starter in today after waiting for so long. Removal and installation was pretty straight forward, and not long at all. Something very strange has happened though since the installation. As soon as the battery terminals are reconnected, the starter spins and spins and spins. The key is not in the ignition. If the ignition wire is disconnected from the starter, the problem does not occur. It is a problem from the ignition, some how. Before the installation, this was not a problem and there were a few electrical grimlens, but none in involvement with the starting of the car. I'm getting the car towed to the shop tomorrow and getting it looked at, but WTF happened? Any ideas? Thanks!

Perthaps the ignition switch is stuck on (key switch) which may have caused the failure of the last starter? Just a hunch.

You probably installed the small wire (ignition power) so it touches the big wire (constant power to the battery) Right near the starter selenoid where the wires bolt onto the starter thus providing constant power to the ignition wire. Tape up the wires and make sure they are not in contact with one another.

I've done that twice. When you tighten the small lug it will pivot and make contact with the larger hot lug. Like said above make sure the lugs are taped well and out a screwdriver agaist the small ju to keep it from twisting. Mine was in gear when it happened to me as I reconnected the battery.
