Sean, I have to come check out your car -- hopefully this week or early next! ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
FWIW, I have a short 5th in my daily driver and it's annoying for highway cruising. Cruising at 85mph is a little over 4000rpm - which is fine on the track - but annoying when you're just trying to cover distance.

I get about 3800rpm at 80mph in 5th gear. That's why I shift into 6th ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
My 2 cents: I topped out my 944 on the way to Las Vegas several months ago. With the hot air intake of a cone filter (now replaced with the stock airbox again), I could NOT pass 135mph. It took me a few minutes to get from 110 to 130, and another couple of minutes to get to 135. I figured, if I had another hour to accelerate, I might hit 137mph. I don't know how much the cone filter was affecting the situation, but I was satisfied with the rpm at this speed, and the speed it was capable of. I mean, a shorter 5th would have gotten me to 125 real quick, but it would have been screaming, and 135 is cooler than 125.
EDIT: At 80mph my (968) engine revs at 4000rpm on the dot.

Todd,
I sent an email. Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for.
Now I can look forward to going back to VIR in May - especially if the new motor is done.
