Default Momo wiring question

My hub adapter has 2 wires, black and yellow/green. The black appears to go through the bottom of the hub adapter and work with the copper ring on the face of the adapter. The yellow/green wire is screwed at one end to the side of the hub adapter. I assume one of these goes to the horn button and the other goes to the grounding ring between the wheel and adapter, is this correct?

I've tried both ways, and neither makes the horn work. Is there something else I'm missing? I've got an '86 turn signal stalk, I assume this just plugs in where the '87 (airbag) version went. Or, is there an additional ground I need to make there?

Make sure the copper horn contact (L shaped contact that should be on the multi-function switch assembly) makes contac with the copper ring on the hub. I had to bend mine upward slightly to make good contact.

I believe it is, but I can use a dab of grease on one or the other to make sure they contact. No additional wiring required for the '86 multifunction switch?

I am assuming you got the ring issue sorted out...

Yes, you need to bend the tip of the copper thing up a bit more than stock to work. When I first did it to mine, I got a nasty scraping sound...I think it has worn down since.

Yup, another great 'lister (Jon Sailer) sent me the ring earlier this week. Now the horn button stays put!

I bought an '86 multifunction switch, which plugs right into the same connectors as the '87 (airbag) multifunction switch did. The "L" shaped copper contact is bent up a touch and I'm pretty sure it touches the hub adapter. Whether or not it's touching the copper ring on the back of the hub adapter is another question...

I see, when using the search function, that a lot of people bought the "L" shaped piece (928 p/n) that you have to wire it to a ground (pin 71?). Is this not required with the '86 multifunction switch? Is it already wired to ground?

No.
You will need to splice into the wire for the horn. They are different between the non-airbag and airbag cars.

Your wiring should have a yellow connector that mated with the rotory switch that fit between the original steering wheel and multi-function switch (I believe the PN is 928-652-211-00 if I'm looking at the right thing).

I don't remember the color, but you will have splice/connect the positive wire (from the wiring harness side) to pin 71.

That's strange, I have an 86 with a Momo hub and I only have the one wire coming out of the hub.

I bought a wheel with a hub from a Civic off ebay, and that hub had a second wire screwed in to the side like you describe, so it might be for a different style button.

Have you tried just connecting only the one black wire coming from the hub?
