Default what this small metal pipe?

i found a small metal pipe that runs down the passenger

side, near rear of engine, passenger side, and threads into exhaust

before the wastegate.

i am curious, because it is not only disconnected, but crimped closed.

doesn't seem to affect anyting, just wonder what it is?

thank you,

I believe that is the pipe used in some areas for emissions testing (allows a sample to be drawn from the exhaust). There is usually a plastic cap on the top.

CO test pipe. Does it come up to a plugged port? Basically... does it come from the crossover pipe to nothing?

My 84 came with one, my 85 didn't... On the 84 I just took that pipe off and had a muffler shop weld the hole shut. I guess a cap nut might have been cheaper.

Lindsey Racing has a little cap for the port, way nicer than having it bent and crimped like it is.
