Default Want 944 in Vancouver, BC...anyone?

Well, the 944 in my avatar is gone....don't ask - it's in good hands but had to go for annoying reasons (insert cry smiley right about here!!)

Anyways, I'm on the lookout for a nice 944 (prefer strongly an '85.5 and up) in the Vanc. area. I prefer NA but an S or maybe even Turbo but the $$ are kinda tight so prob. not. One with recent timing belt would be nice and it must be a 5 speed and decent.

Anyone have one they wanna sell to me so they can get their dream 993 Turbo??!!

Look for threads from Ken Smith, Granite944 He has a couple, I am sure that he would be willing to let one go. He's in North of Seattle.

THanx - I really prefer not to bring one across the border as it's kinda a pain in the *** but I am open to anything as long as its clean and nice! I'll look him up...unless you're reading this Ken??

It is to bad you dont want an auto, I have in for nearly a complete engine rebuild. Bottom end, front end, and top. The car is amazing shape for an 84. Charcol grey, black interior. I just put new seats in aswell as a dashboard making the inside 9/10. Has turbo phone dials in pristine shape with Karrot Zrated(spelling) tires, valued at almost $400 each, almost 100% tread on them.

hmmm, sounds intriguing actually. Any pics of this car or can you get some? You can pm me with details regarding price (if you have one) and your whereabouts. Is charcoal like my graphite (in avatar) or lighter? Thanx, Todd

The colour is lighter than your avatar. I don't have any pics at the moment. I picked the poor car up from some guy who had no clue about maintaining the poor thing . So I figured I would just do T/B waterpump rollers etc... NOOO it was way more! Had a knock inthe bottom end :S this means bearing job DOHHHH. Since we are doing the bottom end we are also doing a head job aswell.

Basically everything we have done so far that is getting done is...

Headgasket and all its essentials.
T/B, waterpumpe, thermostat, all rollers.
bottom end bearings, bottom end seal.
Oil cooler seal kit.
Front end seal kit
New steering pump, hoses.
Plugs, wires, rotor, cap
Possibly brakes.
Has great compression except the head gasket leak, so we will see how it goes once it is all on.

We are not done yet so there maybe more added to the list.

I don't want to let it go until I have totally specced it out and it is near 100% again, especially to a rennlister

All the work is being done by out beloved Henry, very well known in the local 944 group and a pro mechanic I currenty have his pristine 83 at my house maybe I could sell you that! HAHAH, I kid, I kid and I hope he doesn't read this forum LOL.

You can contact me on my email tschenk@shaw.ca

Keep me posted on it's progress. Also did you have a price in mind once done (pm if necessary) - are you in Vancouver? I could live with an auto but I'd have to love the car otherwise like CRAZY...lol!

Yup, about 30mins out of vancouver. It is a really nice looking car and handles great while I had it on the road. Peppy for an auto 4 banger.

edit - I just realized you said you don't have pics - I assume 'cause it's in the shop. I can't seem to find any pics of charcoal on the net!? Anyone?

Todd, I just got your last email.. wow a whirlwind of activity for ya huh??

Anyways, email me with your budget and preferences, and I'll find you a car. Don't be deterred by going to the US for a car, it's easy peasy and almost always cheaper.

Hi Todzilla,

I have been working on an expat assignment in Singapore for a little over a year. I just received an extension for another year till the end of 2007. Therefore, it does not make sense for me to keep both 944s in storage. I am thinking of selling my 1984 944 guards red NA with LSD:

Clean non-faded black leather interior, no rips on seat, carbon-fiber dash outlay, 10-CD player changer-amplifier-subwoofer (in rear hatch cubby), rear turbo valance (sanded, but not painted or installed yet), front spoiler in good condition (i.e., not sagging, but slight crack on the left side), brand new spare factory spoiler (not installed yet, retails at Porsche for US$1,250), 15" phone dials, fairly recent new tires, NEW clutch (installed before I left on assignment), NEW shocks, timing belt changed 2 years ago, re-tensioned before I left on assignment, spare center console, spare dash,......

You can see the pics and history of the extensive work that I put into the car since 2002 at:
http://www.globewerks.net/personal/2...porsche944.htm

The car is currently being stored with a friend in Vancouver, Washington State. He runs the car once a month to ensure the engine, major components and seals are run in and in good shape.

I am asking US$5,500 ($5,000 without the spare front spoiler). The price is firm as it came with a new clutch ($1,400 job) and has LSD. Let me know if these would be of interest to you.

P/S.
I am headed to Outer Mongolia and China for business this week. I will try and check emails frequently.

That looks to be really nice. I have to admit the interior color isn't my top pick but it looks like such a clean example for the year, maybe one could overlook it? Does it actually have about 80000 miles on it? Does everything work (roof/air, if applic./all switches/guages...) You say $5500 with the extra front spoiler but it's not listed in your initial cars' description? Do you mean $500 extra with the turbo rear valance? I could live without an extra front spoiler if that one on it is intact and in good condition.

Perhaps you can pm me your number and we can chat sometime before you leave.

Thanx, Todd
