Default Question about late 944 gauge faces

I would like to get rid of my MPG indicator and the shift light indicator in my '86. I wonder if this could be done by simply swapping the RPM gauge face from my 944 with that from a later 944 or 968. I figure I could just remove the MPG needle and pull the bulb from the shift indicator.

Would the RPM gauge face from a later car be a simple swap with the one I have?

Does anyone who switched to white gauge faces have an old one around that would fit what I would like to do?

Easy swap. You should have no problem. Like you said just find one.
You don't even have to pull the bulb if you don't want to.
