it cant really be this tight.... (tie rod end)
rack is on my garage floor.. and i can not get the stupid tie rod ends off..
i nailed it with liquid wrench and had a wrench holding the rod and pinned against the floor, and when i try to turn the tie rod end, it just start to round out the flat spots on the rod and the wrench pops off... im about to weld something onto the rod but i dont want to get that drastic, i probably didnt even need new ends, but i tore the boots with a pickle fork and since it was already laying on the ground, mine as well..
maybe i should just heat it up to get it off?
any ideas?

I don't recall there being reverse threads, but if you're talking about the inner ends, part of it is peened into a notch on the rack. That will really hold you up.
Other than that, the threads are pretty large, and if they're locked together, they can be really tough to get apart.
Keep soaking it in PB blaster or Liquid Wrench or whatever, use the biggest tightest-fitting wrench you have, and give it a good smack.

yeah, that one. what jam nut? the end is all one piece
only reason it is on the floor is because i pulled my engine out, so when the rack, crossmember, and control arms came out, thats where it lied. they probably didnt need replacement, but the boot is messed up, and i go over board when i order junk online. i'm gonna attack it again in the morning

wow... ran back out, and i swear it looked like it was one piece, but sure enough, put a wrench on the flat spots on the tie rod end, and on the nut, gave a good yank and came right off...
thanks guys.

Glad to help, bad time to tell you this, but I always mark the exact spot the locknut was at to make sure I get the toe in close when putting it back together. You can also count the number of turns that it takes to remove the tie rod end.
