Removing Emblem Adhesive
The heatgun trick has failed, the floss didn't take more than the numbers off, and I've poured just about every close-to-paintsafe solvent onto it and even hit it with hot pressurized water from a pressure washer. It still remains caked on in exactly the same places. At this point I can't tell if the PO used epoxy to maybe reglue the letters, but I am having no luck in removing the remanents to get a nice base for the new letters. My next idea is to use an hot wet towel, and put an iron on the back to hope to loosen the gunk enough, but when that fails I'm all out of ideas.
Anyone ran into issues like this? And is there a decent way to remove the rest and get the new letters mounted barring a sand blaster.

hmm, mine came off in one piece with just a heat gun.. but for stubborn areas there is a 3M eraser tool that goes onto a drill, it works great for removing stuck adhesive from pinstriping, stoneguard, decals and the likes. i'de try and find one of those

I removed mine using an electric drill with rubber wheel on it. The wheel cost was 4$, I bought it in paint shop. Here in Poland, it is called "glue remover". The work is easy and quick.

I removed mine last weekend.
1. wash area carefully
2. gentle heat with heat gun
3. remove letters using GoreTex dental floss (sawing action)
4. GooGone (and fingernails) to remove adhesive
5. wash GooGone off
6. polish the heck out it for an hour
My bare behind is now smoooth and silky - ready for a new emblem.

I tried the heat gun again, and used my nail to get the adhesive off and ended up tearing my nail up. It almost reminds me of the consistency super glue has when it dries, this stuff is rock solid!
