I just started up the car today after not starting for about 2 weeks or a little less and it was a little hard to start (as usual) but after I got it started I hear this loud clicking noise and then the car dies.
I can start it again as long as I gas it a little but when I take the foot off the pedal it will drop below idle for a little bit and then die after about 30 seconds of no gas. At this point (no gas pedal) the car sputters, alternator gauge is above the norm, and that loud clicking noise is still there.
When I have the key in the ON position but not started, the clicking noise is still there. I've narrowed down to where the noise is from and its from that bolted on metal "box" below the battery if you are looking down at it from a birds eye view.
Here's a picture of it:
its the shiny metal box in the center of the picture.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my baby!?
TIA

Your cruise control is going wacky. I had that happen in my 88S but the fix was simple. THe black connector above the cruise servo sometimes gets out of wack. Put the key in the first position and twist the connectors till the clicking stops.

Its a cruise control. I had a very similar problem exept my car didn't die, but i could hear the clicking. I just unplugged the cruise control (Black round conector just above "shiny metal box")
and everything is ok now.
Good Luck
